Medical Interpretation for Foreign Patients

Dispatch Medical Interpreters (Reservation Required)

The hospital uses Hirakata City’s Medical Interpreter Registration and Dispatch Service for its medical interpretation volunteers.

Interpreters may be reserved for:

Reservations must be made at least one week in advance of the required date (date of examination).
Call 847-2821 to make a reservation.
Please be aware that medical interpreters may be unavailable for dispatch at the time you request.

Patients who wish to use a tablet-based three-party video conference system for a medical interpretation service should inquire at the front desk.

First Visit Patients

On your first visit, please make sure to bring a medical referral.

Those without a referral from a local medical institution will be required to pay the fees for first-time patients listed below.

* A Follow-up Visit refers to cases in which a patient who was previously referred to another medical institution by the hospital wishes to continue receiving treatment at the hospital without bringing a referral letter.
Emergency patients (only in unavoidable emergency situations) and recipients of national or local public medical care systems are not subject to the payment collections described above.
However, recipients of child medical care and single-parent medical care WILL be subject to the payment collections described above.

We ask that all patients visit a regular physician at local medical practices and clinics and bring a medical referral from said physician when visiting the hospital.

First Visit Reception

  1. Please take a numbered slip by selecting “1. First Visit” on the automated ticket machine.
  2. After filling out your treatment application and medical questionnaire, please turn it in along with your health insurance card, and your patient registration card and/or referral letter if you possess one.
  3. If you have a referral letter, it will be collected at reception.
  4. If this is your first visit to the hospital, you will be given a patient registration card.
  5. Once you have completed this process, you will be given a waiting number and be guided to the appropriate Block Reception.

* Those without medical referrals will be subject to an additional fee for first-time patients.

Block Reception

  1. Here you will be given a same-day appointment.
  2. You will be called via the screen next to the examination room.

Examination Room

  1. Please follow the instructions of medical staff for examinations, treatments, injections, etc.
  2. Once you have been seen, the doctor will handle arrangements for future visits, prescriptions, and give you a standard schedule for out-patients. Please take these documents to the Block Reception desk.
  3. Please take the payment file you receive to the payment desk on the first floor.

Payment Desk & Automated Payment Machine

  1. Please hand over your payment file at the desk.
  2. Once you receive your payment number, please wait until your number is displayed.

Treatment Application & Medical Questionnaire

Patients visiting for the first time, as well as those who have not been examined for a significant duration, will be required to fill out a Treatment Application & Medical Questionnaire and confirm their name, address, contact information, desired department, and whether they have a referral letter, as well as medical questions regarding their symptom and any allergies.

Changes to Appointments

We ask that you please refrain from making changes to appointments.
In order to prevent increased patient wait times due to adjustments in doctors’ examination schedules, we only allow changes to appointments when absolutely necessary.

Hospitalization Information

Hospitalization Procedures

Hospitalization Application

Your doctor will explain any hospitalization needs during your examination and begin the application procedure if you consent to hospitalization.
The process will be carried out at the hospitalization desk on the first floor.

Day of Hospitalization

Please arrive at the hospitalization desk on the first floor by the time requested.
Those being hospitalized after visiting the emergency room should visit the hospitalization desk on the first floor between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. (weekdays).

Required Items

Please report any changes in address, telephone number, health insurance card , etc. which occur after hospitalization to the hospitalization desk on the first floor immediately.
If you wish to change or cancel your scheduled hospitalization, please contact outpatient reception as soon as possible.

Hospitalization Treatment Plans

Once you are hospitalized, your attending doctor will explain the illness, symptoms, and course of treatment. With the consent of the patient, they will begin treatment and provide a Hospitalization Treatment Plan.
* Please sign and submit your Hospitalization Treatment Plan to a nurse once you consent to the contents.

In order to respect the wishes of the patient, you will be provided and asked to fill out an “Illness & Symptoms Explanation Inquiry” which inquires about the explanations of your illness and treatment. (This step may be omitted in emergency situations or when otherwise impossible.)

Your Stay at the Hospital

1. Required Items

Items listed above can be purchased from the hospital convenience store.

2. Hospitalization Precautions

All patients must follow hospital rules and concentrate on treatment and recovery. Those who commit any actions which break hospitalization rules, including consumption of alcohol, smoking within hospital facilities, abusive language, violence, intimidation, sexual harassment, noise, vandalism, or any other problematic actions, will be immediately discharged from the hospital. If you refuse medical treatment or nursing care without a valid reason, or if your doctor determines that it is difficult to continue treatment, you may be discharged and your treatment terminated.

  1.  Nursing
    Nursing care required for treatment is provided in accordance with government standards. If you wish for a family member to accompany you due to your medical condition, please inform your attending doctor or nurse.
  2.  Wristbands
    Patients are required to wear wristbands in order to help confirm patient names. Please keep this wristband on until you are discharged.
  3. Temporary Leave & Overnight Stays
    Permission from your attending doctor is required before going out of the hospital, staying out overnight, bathing, or exercising. * Designated forms must be submitted in advance.
  4. Alcohol & Smoking
    Consumption of alcohol is forbidden during hospitalization. Additionally, all areas of the hospital facilities are no smoking areas.
  5. Meals
    ・Breakfast: 7:30 a.m.
    ・Lunch: 12 p.m. (noon)
    ・Dinner: 6 p.m.
    Registered nutritionists will provide meals suited for patient conditions at the appropriate times and temperatures. In order to prevent food poisoning, please do NOT save any food you have not finished. Instead, please clear away any leftovers.
    In order to prevent any conflicts with treatment, patients are forbidden from bringing in outside food.
    Once you have finished eating, please return your tray and dishes to the nearby cart. Please note that automatic tea dispensers are available for free use in the pantries located in each ward. A10-day menu (of regular meals) will be posted for patients to consult. Some portions of this menu may change if you are admitted after the meal application deadline, due to ingredient availability.
  6. Hospital Rooms
    Patients may be moved to different rooms based on their symptoms. We ask for your full cooperation.
  7. Lights-out
    Lights will be turned off at 10 p.m. Please rest quietly after lights-out time.
  8. Beds
    Blankets, sheets, and pillows will be provided. You do not need to bring personal bedding items. (Companion bedding items can be rented for a fee.)
  9. Medication
    Pharmacists will visit patients at their bedside to offer instructions regarding medication. These visits will be conducted at admission, during hospitalization, and at time of discharge. Please feel free to consult with the pharmacist at these times.
  10. TV, Radio, Etc.
    All hospital rooms are furnished with bedside tables. Those who wish to use the TV, DVD player, or refrigerator equipped on the tables must apply for the Hospitalization Set (paid service).
    We ask that you always use headphones when using TVs, radios, or other sound emitting devices. Free headphones are provided inside your bedside table. Please inform a nurse if no headphones are available at yours.
    Short-term use of portable devices (video games, PCs, etc.) are permitted as long as they do not interfere with patient recover or disturb the hospital environment or other patients.
    * Patients are responsible for looking after personal mobile devices.
  11. Laundry Room
    Each hospital ward is equipped with a laundry room with coin-operated machines. Please refrain from disturbing other patients by using the laundry room after lights-out or early in the morning.
  12.  Mobile Phone and Smartphone Usage
    Telephone calls are forbidden in the hospital ward (except for private rooms, communal spaces, and other designated locations). Please also make sure your phone is on silent mode at all times.
    The use of phones is not allowed after lights-out. No photography or video capture is allowed.
  13. Electronic Devices
    Please inquire about any electronic devices you wish to use. (Devices which pose fire risks, interfere with treatment, or disturb other patients will not be permitted.)
    Please note that electric kettles, humidifiers, halogen heaters, and other similar devices are not allowed.
  14. Theft Prevention
    Please be responsible for your belongings. Use the safe (free to use) on your bedside table to store your valuables.
  15.  Hospital Room Name Plates
    Patient names are generally not displayed at the entrances to hospital rooms.
  16.  Additional Notes
  1. This hospital is a designated clinical training facility. Some care may be provided by clinical trainees. We ask for your understanding and cooperation.
  2. In the case of emergencies such as earthquakes or fires, please remain calm and follow the instruction of hospital staff.
  3. Dangerous items (firearms, blades, flammables, etc.) must NOT be brought into the hospital. Please immediately report any suspicious objects to hospital staff.
  4. If you have any comments or observations, please inform the hospital staff.
  5. The hospital does not connect phone calls to patients except in times of emergency.
  6. No currency exchange services are available. Please prepare in advance.
  7. Monetary or other gifts to hospital staff are strictly forbidden.
  8. Please refer to the TVs installed in the hospital for broadcasts on hospitalization information.
  9. Please bring any moisturizers (body creams, hand creams, etc.) which you use regularly. (Continued use may be required for extremely dry skin. However, be aware that these needs may not always be met depending on your condition.)
  10. The communal spaces in front of the elevators on floors 4–7 are equipped with free Wi-Fi. (SSID: people) No password is required.
    * Transmissions are not encrypted.
  11. We provide internet service via public Wi-Fi. Please only utilize this service if it does not interfere with treatment and does not inconvenience the hospital or its patients. The service is available at no charge, but please be certain to check the terms of use beforehand.
    Patients will need to provide their own devices (smartphones, tablets, etc.) to connect to this service. The hospital does not provide any rental equipment. Please ensure your device is muted and does not disturb other users while utilizing this service.
    As a security measure, connections will be severed after five hours. After a connection is severed, you may reconnect for continued use. The hospital cannot provide any assistance for inquiries regarding how to connect to this service. Patients are asked to handle it themselves.
